Ghosts, ghouls, witches and wizards swooped on a Castleford dance floor on Wednesday night for a spooktacular Halloween party at Xscape Yorkshire. The event – which Care UK organised with people with learning disabilities – saw around 250 people don scary costumes to mark the creepiest night of the year.

History has been brought to life for pupils at a Southampton infant school learning about how modern hospitals compare to the Victorian-era. Over three days 90 children from Maytree Nursery and Infant School visited Southampton NHS Treatment Centre to learn about nurse and heroine Mary Seacole, the history of Royal South Hants Hospital and how brushing teeth and washing hands help keep germs at bay.

The history of Hailsham is preserved within the walls of a new care home and the efforts that went into the build, which turned into a conservation project, were recognised when a heritage award was presented by the town council.
